Peripheal vestibular disorder

Peripheal vestibular disorder

I have been experience severe virtigo, balance problems, daily migraines, weight loss, fatigue, body aches and pain.  My MRI was normal but my electronystaogram showed abnormalities with both the caloric section as well as the other sections.  My neurologist says I have a peripheal vestibular disorder, and nothing like and an acoutic neuroma and I do not have BVP.   He has sent me to  physical therapy and after the first visit it made things worse.  I still feel so sick and have no answers.  What coulod be wrong with me?  I am 32 young, and up until now have been pretty healthy.

Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with your doctor.

I suggest you seek another evaluation by a neurologist who specializes in vestibular disorders; usually called neuro-otologist. There is a spectrum of peripheral vestibular disorders, and different methods to approach treating those conditions. also I have seen differences in the outcome of physical therapy depending on the expertise of the therapist and the therapeutic methods they use. There is a very good vestibular clinic at the Cleveland Clinic and our experience with the physical therapist we work with has been more than satisfactory.

Thanks for using the forum and good luck
