Periventricular Leucomalacia

I have an 11 yr old son who has had problems learning since he started school which was put down as boys being boys and being a slow learner but after years of pushing for someone to take more of an interest he had had a brain scan and been diagnosed with periventricular leucomalacia - where do I go from here? What does life hold for him, he remembers things from years ago but cannot remember what he does 2/3 hours ago, hearing and sight is fine no problems at all.
He has a speech therapist and when he starts secondary school in September he will have a key worker in some of the classes.
My son has no interest in school at all and will not be able to cope from one lesson to another, what more should i be doing?
