I am in touch with another dystonia patient who takes Permax (
Pergolide)
along with Sinemet CR. If I read correctly, this is a Parkinson's med
which helps with foot cramping. Does anyone have experience with combining
these two drugs? I am going to talk to our neurologist today to see
what he thinks, but would appreciate any input.
=======================================================================
Permax is a drug used to treat Parkinsons just like Sinemet so the drugs
are in fact used together quite frequently in people who have severe
Parkinsons disease.
The later stages of parkinsons disease can pose many problems in managing
symptoms so for this reason various combinations of the antiparkinsoms
drugs are used, the combination of Permax and Sinemet is common and severe
adverse interactions are not reported.
Both drugs wok on Dopamine receptors in the brain so the effect tends
to additive, threre is also the option of using Permax alone if you are
still uneasy about the combination.
Thanks so much!
