Pins & Needles, Numbness

  I am a white female, age 38.  Never any medical problems (besided sinus infections, colds).  3-4 months ago I started experiencing numbness going down the left side of my body (especially my face, hand, leg, foot).  It was almost like it was asleep with a pins & needle feeling.  To touch it just felt like there was a muffle or glove over it.  Then the left side of my face started to have a burning sensation.  The last week the feeling has gone into the right side.  Even the bottoms of my feet!  I am also very tired and have had a problem with constipation for the past few months.  My eyes have been dry the last couple of weeks and very blurry vision especially later in the day.  A friend said it sounded alot like MS.  Will be calling a doctor tomorrow - what should I ask?  Does it sound like MS?
===========================================================================
The problems you describe have some features in common with MS but since
Ms can affect any part of the nervous system it shares symptoms with lots
of different disorders.
Eye problems, with blurred vision in one eye which stays for a number of
days to weeks, are a feature of MS but not dry eyes or problems which
fluctuate thrioughout the day.
This would suggest an autoimmune disoreder called Sjogrens Syndrome in
which the eyes feel dry and gritty, some times Sjogrens can be part of a
vasculitis / autoimmune disease picture which can cause symptoms similar to those you describe.
As regards what you should ask for this will really be determined by the
outcome of a detailed history and physical examination, I do not think it
would be appropriate to start off with a list of tests whihout this vital
first step.
At some point in the evaluation you will probably reqiure an MRI scan of the
brain and cervical spinal cord with Gadolinium enhancement and depending
on the outcome of the physical examination blood work to explore the
possibility of an autoimmune process.
