Pins and needles - normal bloods - confused.

Hi all, I posted this question a couple of weeks ago and got good answers, but I am now a little confused as I have had blood tests done - blood sugar (fasting), B12, liver and kidney function, all normal. The pins and needles now come and go but the brain fog, (mainly not being able to finish sentences) is quite bad at the moment. I am due to have nerve conduction studies done on the 1st. Any ideas as to what could be happening would be well appreciated.

It all started 6 months ago with pain in my right hand. Then I started to get a strange sensation in my 4th and 5th fingers, that has since gone. Then the pins and needles started, then both hands and now feet too. My shins also get very tingly, to the point where it feels like someone is pulling the hairs out with tweezers. I have seen my doctor, been to orthopedics and now I have been referred to neurology. The neurologist will be doing a nerve conduction study. I am 23 years old and I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems and ideas on what this could be. Thank you for your time. (I live in the UK too if that help in any way)

Thank you for the pointers, I just feel I keep hitting dead ends. I have had problems with mental health in the past and get a little worried that doctors think all physical problems are psychologically rooted, then I get passed off. It is good in one way the blood tests are normal but..then I am left thinking - what the heck is wrong with me? Thank you again.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Yes I think it is important to get a neurological evaluation done since your blood sugar and B12 are in the normal range. Nerve conduction tests will help in diagnosing neuropathies or nerve damage. It is also important to rule out neurological causes for your symptoms. A CT scan or MRI of brain may also help.
Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome also need to be ruled out.
Take care!
