I’ve been diagnosed with Piriformis Syndrome (piriformis muscle).  Does anyone know of a facility or any doctor in the New Jersey, Philadelphia or New York City area that performs Ultrasound or Open MRI guided trigger point injections into the piriformis muscle?  I’m specifically looking for Ultrasound guided or Open MRI guided and not Fluoroscopy.  Fluoroscopy has the high risk of radiation and studies have shown it's only 30% reliable of getting the entire injection into the piriformis muscle (if you don't believe me, research it online).  I've tried physical therapy on 4 different occassions, and I stretch the piriformis muscle every day.  I've tried all of the basic remedies and my step is surgery, which I'm trying to avoid.  

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I’ve been unable to sit down without pain for 2 full years.

Hi Mattcath, My wife has Piriformis Syndrome due to auto accident. We live on east coast but are interested to know more about your experience with Dr. Filler.

Take a look at tipna.org for reasons that you may not have piriformis syndrome, but may have pudendal nerve entrapment.  It took me 7 years to be able to sit by using the doctors listed there.

I live in southern CA & have had Piriformis Syndrome for 33 years, diagnosed & treated by the M.D. who originally reasearched, published & treated patients, Dr. Blair Pace in Tustin/Santa Ana, CA, successfully every single time! Unfortunately, he had to retire years ago due to poor health. Has anyone located Dr. Aaron Filler and where is he located?      I have been diagnosed with Piriformis Syndrome with a significant amount of complicating factors involved.  Been to specialists all over the East Coast and have done a tremendous amount of research on these issues with excess of 18-20 Mri, Ct, US MR-N  Studies previously performed.  I am working my way thru the specialists at HSS in NYC and they tried a piriformis injection US guided but I believed they missed the spot/intended target zone from what I have been told.   I have a bunch of feelers out there currently and am working toward a trip to the West Coast to see Dr. Aaron Filler, whom I'm sure you've heard of.  He does do MR-guided injections of the piriformis muscle and doesn't miss.   Check him out at Neurography.com and let me know how you make out.  Get back with me directly if you have any further leads and I will help you along also.   Havent checked this site in a while so best send me a private E-mail if you want to.
