Yesterday, I went to the neurologist with symptoms of headache, dizziness, and dimmed vision. I was primarily concerned about a brain tumor. Upon asking me questions and conducting a brief examination, the neurologist indicated that he did not think there was any tumor to worry about, but nevertheless told me to schedule an MRI w/out contrast to "rule out mass." I do not understand what he meant by mass other than tumor, nor do I understand why he wants to screen me for something he does not think I have.
Can someone tell me if there is another issue he may have had in mind, and whether it is advisible to go through the MRI. I do not tend to do well with MRI's because I get claustrophobic, and would prefer to avoid it unless there is a realistic chance of a tumor. I also think this neurologist is the type to just play it safe, considering he previously sent me for an MRI to rule out a spinal problem that he was fairly certain I did not have.
Thank you!
