Possible Stroke symptoms

by Fish02, Nov 27, 2005 12:00AM
Have been getting dizzy quite often. Almost passed out and after being laid down had tingling in both of my hands like they were coming awake. Have been extremely tired. Is this a sign of a stroke? My mom has had some mini strokes.
thanks

I cannot give you a clinical diagnosis over the internet, and the information you provide is limited. On its own dizziness with bilateral hand tingling is not very suggestive of a stroke and may be more realted to blood pressure, heart causes etc. Common signs of a stroke that require immediate assessment include muscle weakness or loss of sensation on one side of the body, loss of ability to speak or understand language, and drooping of one side of the face or double vision

Good luck

I wasn't sure how much info to give but after reading some of the others I probably need to give more. I am Fish02 adding to my original question.  I am 47 years old and have been getting dizzy for about 4 months.  I had a bunch of blood work done and everything, thyroid, sugar, chloresteral, etc came back fine. I don't know whether to go to the dr's as it might just be a weird thing and nothing is wrong. But I am pretty concerned. If anyone has had dizziness with tingling in the hands and knows what it is please tell me. Thanks

Have you had your heart checked?   Syncope or presyncope can sometimes look like this.   Perhaps, have a cardiologist check you out, just in case.   This doesn't sound like a stroke, though.

It sounds an awful lot like you are experiencing exactly what my wife was experiencing. After several tests performed by several specialists, the neurologist found that her Caradic Artery was completely closed on one side of her neck. I am not saying that is what you have, but it might be worth checking into. Good luck!

Hi, your symptoms sound like you could have TMJ. Do you have problems with your jaw popping or clenching your teeth? Does your face get sore or do you have headaches? It is possible you have inflammation in the joints (TMJ) this isthe jaw bone joint located near your ear. Just have an MRI done and see, you may need braces to correct the problem if in fact it is that. This problem can come with headaches, jaw soreness, gum soreness, tingling handes..ect :) Good luck

Hi, you might want to check out TMJ. Do you have a facial pain of any kind? Sometimes this will cause hands to tingle and you may get dizzy w/ it too.
