  Hi,
About three months ago I had what felt like a Flu for about a week.
The following week I felt fine except a weak tired feeling in my legs. And
a dizzy lightheaded feeling in my head that didn't go away. About three
weeks after that I woke up in the middle of the night with  my arms feeling
very strange almost like they were asleep. I could barely keep them up.
I went to the hospital where they did a CT scan of the head and Blood work.
They said everything was normal and suggested that it might be Anxiety.
After a couple more episodes and more visits to a Hospital, and a couple of
Doctors I finally went to a Neuroligist who diagnosed me with Post Infectious
Encephalomyelopathy ? He said It's related to Guillian Barre' Syndrome .I
had an EEG and an MRI which he says are normal (The MRI shows an Arachnoid
Cyst which he says isn't related). My problem is that
It's been about another month and My head still feels
the same.  I can't really describe it but
It feels woozy, hazy and things seem to "bounce" with my pulse. When i move
around too much I feel horrible and sometimes I get nasaus.I have some
symptoms of Chronic Fatigue except the Fatigue ! A blood testshowed
  abnormal Epstein Barr  and
  One Doctor said the tests
in the Hospital showed my Blood pressure dropped when I stood up and my
blood sugar was a little high.
The problem is I feel like I'm not getting better and I can't seem to find
any information on this condition. Did you ever hear of this condition?
Is it related to viral Encephalitis? What other virus could of caused
this besides a flu? I would appreciate any information you can share.
==========================================================================
Post infectious encephalmyelopathyopathy is  a  somewhat vague  term
which is sometimes used to describe the transient (but sometimes fairly
prolonged) state of general malaise, depression, muscular aches and pains,
lack of energy which can frequently follow a viral infection, typically an
influenza virus infection but it is classically described (and I feel this
may be significant), following Epstein Barr virus infection.
The condition does not present any abnormalities on scans or routine tests
and is ultimately self resolving, although it can take weeks or even
months to get back to full normality. The condition is sometimes described as
a post viral syndrome which is probably a better term as it is not as easily
confused with viral encephalitis or post viral encephalomyelitis which are
distinctly clear cut diseases with changes on scans and illness which
requires hospitalisation.
If your symptoms do not settle down soon  would suggest a second opinion
however.
