Post Surgery of Brain Tumor

Hi,
Why the breathing problem occur after surgery of Brain Tumor ? My mother undego a Braing Tumor surgery just 1 week back and as per the doctor, it was successful. She is in ICU now. But she is having breathing problem after the surgery. Please note that a tube has inserted in her mouth after the surgery. As per the doctor whenver the tube is taking out from her mouth she is not able to breath properly.
Please help in this matter and let me know the solution.
