I have been undergoing testing for over a year for symptoms which started almost two years ago.  It started out as severe aching and throbbing pain in both wrists and gradually spread up to include both elbows.  A year ago, the pain spread to both my lower legs, ankles and feet.  I have tried every anti-inflammatory medication, and they do not work at all on this type of pain.  It is a burning, aching and throbbing, and Vicodin is the only pain medication which gives me any relief.  I have an ANA level of 1:80 (speckled pattern) and an increased level of protein in my spinal fluid (59 mg/dL).  These are the ONLY tests to come back abnormal - all tests for specific antibodies for rheumatic illnesses have come back negative.  My symptoms have progressed to include headaches (with nosebleeds), I have had a low-grade fever for over a year, and my hands and feet are so cold it is painful (Raynaud's).  My arms and legs are abnormally fatigued all the time, and I get out of breath just going up a flight of stairs.  I'm only 30 years old and was in great shape until these symptoms began.  My question is this - can neurological conditions cause these symptoms?  My doctor believes I have MCTD, and I'm wondering if this could be something else.  Is there anything else we're overlooking?  I am going in for an MRI of my brain soon - should we be looking at the neck area, also?  P.S.  I have undergone two Carpal Tunnel surgeries, which helped for about a month and then the pain returned.  The surgeon said I have an extra artery in each wrist which was supposed to shut off at birth and mine didn't.  Could this type of thing cause pain in both my arms and legs?
Thank you so much for your time.
