Protein and csf
Is a finding of elevated protein in csf of any significance? Does it mean anything? I have intracranial hypertension, and a vp shunt.

Hi, “elevated CSF protein is seen in infections, intracranial hemorrhages, multiple sclerosis, Guillain Barré syndrome, malignancies, some endocrine abnormalities, certain medication use, and a variety of inflammatory conditions”. Taken from http://www.aafp.org/afp/20030915/1103.html

In shunt infections too, elevated protein are observed.
