Question about MRI

I had an MRI on Wednesday because I've been experiencing tingling and numbness in my arm and legs.  It was a great experience actually.  Very friendly and nice people and the procedure wasn't scary at all.  I just kept my eyes closed most of the time!  After it was over I was surprised that they didn't give me an IV like one of the technicians had mentioned.  I assume that was the With contrast type test.  When another technician said the test was complete I asked it they just did the MRI Without contrast.  She said yes and that was what the dr. ordered.  But she then said that if they had seen anything questionable that they would have done the With contrast portion.  Then she said that she shouldn't tell me this, but that they didn't see any of the telltale white blotches of MS on my brain.   Question though:  does that also mean that the MRI in general showed no questionable issues?  I guess I want to know if the technicians can analyze the MRI results before I leave and know if something is looking bad for me.  The woman was quite friendly afterwards and I think she just wanted to allay my fears of MS.  But I also have fears of tumors and atrophy of some part of my brain.  Would they see that and be concerned enough to go further and do the With Contrast part of the MRI?  Or do they just follow the Dr's order of Without contrast and that's it?  Any advice would be appreciated.

Of course, it's a Holiday weekend and even though I got the MRI on Wednesday, when I called my Dr. today (Friday) they were closed for the Memorial Day weekend.  Ugh!  Now I have to wait until Tuesday for any MRI results.  I could just scream... or cry.  Just need to know the results to allay my fears!  Thanks for listening to me rant.  :)

You might be able to go by the place you had the MRI and pick up a copy of the report yourself. I always go and get  a copy of the reports before I see the doctor. Its like a 2.00 dollar charge here. I always call ahead and let them know I'll be coming by for a copy. Now reading all the terms is in its self difficult..but there should be a conculsion at the bottom...I know my MRI of the brain did.

Thanks.  I did ask them for a copy and they said they'd mail it to me.  So I could perhaps get it in the mail tomorrow.  But if it is a worrisome diagnosis, maybe they wait until my MD talks to me?  I'm sure I won't undertstand it and if anything "sounds" scary I'll probably freak.  I'm a big baby lately with all the worry.   I am starting to ask for copies of everything so I can keep a good health file.  I asked for a copy of my blood work from my MD and am still waiting after a week.  So I guess I have to call them again about that too.

I guess I am just hoping that they didn't see anything bad so they didn't do the With contrast part of the test.

Try not to worry...I think if anything real bad showed up they would call you Dr. ASAP holiday or not they would get in touch with him.

Good luck and let us know how it all goes!
