RADIATION OF THE SPINE AFTER SPINAL STENOSIS SURGERY/LAMINECTOMY

Posted By SKR on April 14, 1998 at 04:25:52:

I posted a question 2 days ago about my upcoming surgery and whether or not radiation of the spine would be helpful in cases like mine.  It has been suggested that there is a surgeon at Johns Hopkins who has some experience with this.  Perhaps this is the wrong forum for my question, since I did not receive an answer.  The purpose of the radiation would be to prevent bone regrowth in the spinal column and avoid the need for a fusion in the future.  Is this just a theory or does it actually work?  What are the risks?  If you have an answer, an opinion, or do not know, please reply.  Thank you kindly.
