RSD associated with failed plantar fasciotomies

RSD associated with failed plantar fasciotomies

I had been told by my neurologist about a year ago that I had Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy in my feet and legs, but I went to see a doctor in Pittsburgh, Dr. Conti, and he said that he didn't think that was why I was in so much pain, in fact he said he didn't think I had RSD, even though the triple phase bone scan I had done last year said that I did have it.  Dr. Conti believes I hurt so badly because I have no plantar fascia on either foot to support my body anymore.  You see I had bilateral plantar fasciotomies performed at the same time and Dr. Conti said that the doctor that performed my surgery either went in there and cut both completely through, or he did the surgery the way it was supposed to be done and the rest of the plantar fascia just ripped the rest of way during surgery, OR while I was still recovering from the surgery they just completely ripped the rest of the way, anybody have this same problem or something like it?  Any info would be helpful, I don't know who to believe now.

Hi there!

Seems like a very complicated case to me.  I suggest that you ask your former surgeon what really happened during the operation, or retrieve the Operating room records of your procedure.  This may help Dr. Conti in pinpointing your problem.

Nevertheless, I hope your pain is being managed properly and adequately.  For if there is something I cannot stand that is to learn that someone is having pain and not being given enough to relieve it.  You may seek professional medical help from anesthesiologist-pain specialist to address this.  My regards and good luck.
