RSDS/CRPS, ARC and vision problems

Hi,
I have had reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome (RSDS) since 1990 when a cast was applied too tightly for torn ligaments on my left lower leg.  The cast was on for 3 days and cut off due to my developing shooting pains.  When the cast was cut off, my leg emerged swollen to size of 4 legs (couldn't see the width of my leg) and deformed with an inversion of 45 degrees and dropped down.  I developed RSDS.  Later during a nerve block or MRI, I had a reaction to the dye and developed Arachnoiditis.  Now I have 2 rare chronic pain syndromes.

My eyes are now sensitive to the sun and bright lights.  I squint a lot in the sun.  Reading from a computer is also sometimes difficult because of glare from the sun. I have light blue/green pigmentation in my eyes.   Due to age my eyes have deteriorated and I now need reading glasses as well as sunglasses.  I need some research regarding photophobic issues for those with RSDS/CRPS and/or ARC.  I need to be able to justify why I need sunglasses for benefits.  My eye doctor did note antiglare on my prescription for sunglasses and antireflective for my reading glasses, but doesn't know if they will cover this.

Can anyone point me to websites with research relating to photophobia and RSDS/CRPS and/or Arachnoiditis (ARC)?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with a doctor.

The NIH has a website for complex regional pain syndrome (which was once known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy or RSD). The website is http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/reflex_sympathetic_dystrophy/detail_reflex_sympathetic_dystrophy.htm. This website has information on this condition as well as other links to relevant websites.

Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
