I have severe pain that runs along the left side of my spine.  Pain started about 4 months
ago, when I noticed that I couldn't sleep on my right side. I felt a pain in my ribs.
The pain has gradually become more severe.  I have a hard time finding a comfortable posistion to sleep.
Laying on my stomach is terrible.  I have seen a GP, chiropractor, and an Orthopod.
The Orthopod prescribed muscle relaxers and anti inflamatory medicine.  I am not
getting better.  Help>

Thanks for your question.  Because of the location of your pain (middle of
your back, half-way between shoulders and lower back??), it is likely that
it is musculo-skeletal in origin, that is, probably caused muscular tension.
Having said that, however, if your pain symptoms are not improving with
muscle relaxant medications, or if they are actually getting worse, it would
be worthwhile to investigation further, such as some imaging studies.
Please bring the possibility of imaging studies with your physician.
I hope this information is helpful.  Best of luck.
