My step-father has suffered from nerve damage in his back secondary to scar tissue from several back operations.  He has been to U of M to implant a type of Stimulator, which was not efficacious.  He is currently on Morphine to make this chronic pain more tolerable.  He has been advised by a Dr. Eilender that the Cleveland Clinic may be of some help.  Are there any physicians, such as Neurosurgeons or Orthopedic Surgeons who specialize in chronic back pain that he could be referred to?  I would appreciate a response at your earliest convenience.  Thank you for your attention.

There are several physicians at the Cleveland Clinic who are experts in
treating complex spinal disorders. Some of these doctors are neurosurgeons,
others ore orthopedic surgeons, and some are pain specialists.
Without knowing what the exact cause of you father-in-law's problems
are it is difficult for me to recommend any particular physician.
Perhaps, if you are interested in coming to Cleveland, you should seek
the opinion of either Dr. Iain Kalfas, or Dr. William Bingaman. Both are
neurosurgeons trained in complex spinal surgery. If they do not feel that
this is surgical in nature, I am sure that they will arrange for
your father-in-law to be seen by the appropriate physician. You may reach
