people with PKU (phenylketonuria) should retrict their intake of Aspartame.
there is speculation that aspartame can cause neurotoxic effects by increasing
plasma and brain phenylalanine.  the [aspartame] found in soft drinks is no
where near being dangerous (even if you drank 6 cans/day).  both the CDC and FDA's CFSAN reviewed the safety
of aspartame and found no substantial evidence to ban it. of all the environmental
factors that can cause chemical imbalances, aspartame is probably one of the least
likely.
