:      I have the diagnosis of coccydynia (coccyx pain).  This stemmed from sitting on a hard ackward plastic chair Sept. 1997.  At first my tailbone felt bruised and sore and then became inflammed.  X-rays showed no fracture.
I was told this diagnosis can be caused by sitting on a hard surfaces such as bleachers.  Have you had any patients with this diagnosis from sitting on a chair?  How long to heal?
Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there.. I'm not a dr., but I had to respond to your message when I saw it.  I was diagnosed w/ coccydynia in October 1996.  No one really knows what brought it on, except for the fact that I had done a lot of sitting recently.  For me, the symptoms lasted 9 months, getting slowly better over time.  The best thing was to not sit directly on my tailbone, sit on soft chairs, and eliminate stress.  I had a flare-up recently over x-mas, due to stress probably, but it lasted for only a week.  Anyway, if you have any more questions, feel free to email me at ***@****, even though I'm not a dr.
