What tests rule out MS,LUPUS,RUM aut.I just want to see whats next.I had all the blood test you could think of,all the GI tests also,muscle biopsy and emg.What does an emg rule out.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Dan, I think you need a second opinion. Fibromyalgia usually does not give you elevated CK values or an elevated lactic acid level. What did the EMG show? The EMG should show you that either the problem is in the muscle, where the nerve interacts with the muscle, or in the various nerves to and from the muscle. The biopsy would suggest that you have a neuromuscular type of problem (if it was stained with esterase) or if not stained with esterase then a muscle problem. The finding of increased lactic acid and CK would both indicate a muscle or neuromuscular junction problem. The muscle twitching under you skin indicates muscle problem in which the nerves to the muscle are not functioning correctly and the muscle is firing on its own. The fatty liver may or may not be involved in your disease process. Your process does not sound like MS, but a CSF with oligoclonal banding and a MRI with multiple bright spots on T2 would be diagnostic for MS. Your symptoms also do not
sound like lupus but other types of autoimmune diseases would not be out of the question. Have you been tested for AIDS? Without knowing the lab results and seeing the EMG and other tests, or doing the physical exam myself, it is impossible to tell you exactly what you have, but it is not fibromyalgia. Gather all the data and seek a second opinion, better sooner than later. If you live in the Cleveland area, we would be happy to see you. You can call 1-800-CCF care for an appointment.
