Dear Mary:
Sorry to hear about your symptoms.  Although they do not sound like ALS, for your peace of mind I would go see a Neurologist and get a good neurological exam.  He/she may even get an EMG test.  I really think that these both will turn up that you do not have ALS.  Whatever I tell you on the internet, probably will not convince you because you did not personally see me.  I would put closure on the ALS thought by going to your neurologist, it will be more than worth the money.
Also, raising 3 children especially one with a very serious illness can really induce fatigue which makes is think poorly and put things out of perspective.  Your symptoms are real but not ALS.
Sincerely,
CCF Neuro[P] MD

Thank you for your fast reply
How does anxiety cause  slurred speech  and not being able to get your words out right ?  And when do you know what is anxiety and what is real
Thanks again Mary
I guess Iam just a little scared about getting sick and not being able to take care of my son.

Dear Mary:
Anxiety could cause slurred speech by trying to talk to fast with too many different thoughts going on at the same time.  If you compound this with fatigue, one could get slurred speech.  However, continuous slurred speech over long periods of time during efforts at clear speech would not be related to anxiety.

Dear Mary:
I think that you need to see a neurologist.  Like previous posted, I don't think that this is ALS, but you need a face-to-face vist with a physician to tell you that this is not ALS.  I think until you do this, you will have these panic feeling of the unknown.
Sincerely,
CCF Neuro MD
