I am a forty year old female. Aprox. 6 weeks ago I experienced a sudden temporary hearing loss in both ears. Although I could still hear the sound was muffled as though I was wearing ear plugs. After several hours my hearing returned. About 1 week ago this happened again. My questions are could this be related to sinus problems or allergies or could it be anything more serious? Is there any way to prevent this? I found it very alarming. Thank you for any answers you can give.

Relpy:  I'm no Dr, but my husband is going thru the same type of thing right now, it started on way home on the plane.  Went to Dr yesterday and he said that it was water behind the eardrum and for him to take sudafed to help clear the water.   Would still go see family Dr or go to medical clinic just to make sure there is nothing more serious.  Hope that might have helped a bit.
