I posted on 8/10 about an undiagnosed central nervous system disorder.  I've been diagnosed with MS several times and then had the diagnoses recinded because my symptomology is so unusual.  Today, the pain has become unbearable and my HMO is only open for emergencies.  I'm up in the mountains, 80 miles from the nearest facility.  Since late afternoon yesterday, my muscles have been cramping up and twitching from my feet on up to my face and head.  My optic neuritis has worsened considerably overnight in my right eye, with a gray cloud blocking out all but the inside left portion of my vision.  My chest wall and back are pleuritic, and I have a history of pleurisy, costochondritis and myochondritis.  It hurts to breathe deeply and my sternum keeps getting painful and I have to rotate my arms over my head...then I hear and feel it "pop" back into place.  I almost pass out when this happens, and I've already had to do this 4 times since later yesterday.  My aches are felt deep in my bones, and I'm walking stiff legged today, with my feet dragging my toes with each step.  I'm disoriented and uncoordinated in my walking, my speech is slurred and I'm having more difficulty than usual in swallowing liquids and solids.  I have a groin pain that rivals the worst of menstrual cramps.  My forearms and shins ache terribly and are highly sensitive to pressure.  My hands and feet feel arthritic and stiff.  My face keeps flaring bright red (almost purple) on one side with intense heat and the eye on that side becomes glassy and watery.  The other side of my face stays cool and pale.  It's taken me 15 minutes to type this and I'm a 80+ typist.  I am so scared and don't know what to do...can you help?  Please answer as soon as possible, or e-mail me and I'll give you my home number.  Thank you so much!

Thanks for the posting. It seems very obvious to me that you need to be evaluated right away. I'm not sure what to make of your symptoms but you need to see a doctor. Many patients I know have unexplained neurologic problems and it is frustrating to both the doctor and the patient as I'm sure you are finding in your case. You are currently so symptomatic, however, that that needs to be delt with to make sure that some new problem has not arisen. Get someone to take you to the ER now.
