I have had a headache on one side of my head for the past 5 days.  On the first day the pain was the worst, for the next days the pain is only fuzzy with a numb feeling on my left side of my face.  The doctor says my neurological exam checks out ok.  My question is how long can migraine symptoms last?
Thank you for your time.

Typically, one expects the pain of migraine to last between several hours and several days. Five days is a bit long, but not completely out of line.
If migraine is an old friend, and if this is a typical headache (just long), then you're probably OK. If this is new, then be sure you let your doctor know if it goes on much longer.
Clearly, if you experience neurologic symptoms (weakness, blindness, etc) then you should be evaluated right away.
If you desire specialty treatment for your headaches, you are welcome to have your doctor refer you to the headache center here in the neurology department. Call 800 223-2273, ask for ext 4-5559 (neurology appointments).
I hope this helps. As you know, this forum does not substitute for medical advice from your doctor. CCF MD mdf.
