Many of us MGers have neck problems.  Some wear soft support collars (whiplash type) and other roll a towel for assitance.  There are devices
available to help in more severe cases, and these can be prescribed and custom fit.  Since the neck muscles weaken from excersise, some patients have found that  rest is the only answer outside of support, and medical treatments  that should be overseen bt your neurologist.  I'm sure that with good treatment, your mother in law will join the ranks of MGers who lead lives that are more normal now.
