About two years ago I started having pain in my upper neck (C6 & C7) shooting down my right arm  and palm to my thumb.  In December 1995, I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right wrist.  The pain still persisted.  In September 1996 I had surgery in Dallas on my neck, but the pain was still there.  The neurologist in Dallas currently are stumped.  If you have any suggestions please let us know.
Thank you,
Maryann

Hello MaryAnn!!
No real major insights, other than to consider a repeat, very thorough EMG to be sure there is no ongoing damage to the affected nerve roots or peripheral nerves invloved. There are some rare nerve entrapment syndromes that masquerade as carpal tunnel or cervical disk disease, and it may be that you have one of them. The other possibility, if there is indeed evidence of ongoing damage on the EMG is that you have some sort of inflammatory condition affecting the nerves. The neurology department at Southwest is a very good one. Good Luck!!
