Well, I had the problem you are speaking of back in the 70's.
A calcium stone had stopped up the duck in my right gland and the thing got to looking like a baseball when I saw or smelled food.
At that time the porcedure was to remove the gland which was done.
Really, no problem after except a scare on my neck and a little dry mouth from time to time. I am sure however things and procedures have improved since the 70's. Anyway nothing serious to worry about.......Dave
