Radial head injury that comes and goes which can be quit severe at times. Recently I started to feel a tingling in my right arm, almost like cold water going over it. I have seen an eye doctor who refered me to a neurologist. The neurologist did a spinal, MRI and EMG of my arm, all negative. He put me on verapamil for several weeks which brought no relief. Now he is suggesting I see a neuro-opthamologist? Is this the right next step? Could this be Migraines or sarcoidosis related. Any input would be valued. Thank You!
Dear Sharon:
Sorry for the problems, I have answered your question but it seems that for some reason the system lost it (otherwise all the other answers would not be Re: in front of the postings).
If you were developing neurosarcoid (a rare entity, but not impossible) there would be changes in the MRI, especially since you have visual changes. I would see the neuro-opthalmologist and see what he/she says. There could be several other things to cause this, seizure activity or migraine. I think the latter may be a possibility and would pursue this angle. Verapamil is a fair migraine medication but not what we usually use as a first line medication initially. See what the neuro-opthalm. has to say and then I would see if this is atypical migraine, or occipital neuralgia.
Sincerely,
CCF Neuro MD
