My son has had a headache for 40 some days straight.  The mri showed that his symptoms point to chairi malformation type 1 plus also very bad sinius.
He was on a antibiotic for about 1 month with no relief.  I am now being refered to a neurogist to help with the headaches.  Is there any recommendations for a doctor in the Pittsburgh area?  He is 13 years old and 6' 262 lbs.  Does he go to a pediatics or adult doctors?

Hi Madalin,  I have this condition ACM type 1 causing hydrocephalus.  It is usually spotted when we are young but my case was not discovered til three years ago as an adult.  I am not a doctor but this condition is rare.  Your best bet is to have your son go see a Pediatric Neurosurgeon for advice regarding ACM.
It is usually a treatment if causing symptoms it need surgical treatment. Not all ACM type are symptomatic.  If interested in learning more here is a website where lots of patients and parents of arnold-chiari malformation can be found.
Also look up on internet this group:  World of Arnold Chiari Association.  Great
site with listings of doctors for US and other Countries specializing with ACM.
Hope this helps your son, Take Care Anneliese
