I can understand and sympathise with your troubles. It is rather unusual for back pain fro compressive fracture of a vertebra to be persistent, but this can happen. With your persisting severe pain, I think it may be appropriate to exclude an underlying cause of the fracture, and also to rule out a nerve root compression. nerve root compression and instability may be strong reasons to consider surgery. In case surgery is not deemed necessary, pain control may be achieved not only by analgesics but also by invasive but effective interventions that are performed by specialists in anesthesiology and pain management.
In case you wish to seek a second opinion from a neurosurgeon and a pain expert from the Cleveland Clinic, you may want to call (800)223-2273 for appointments.
