Dear Doctors,
would the fact that my grandmother on my mothers side died of encephilitis
at a young age,(1920s)have any baring on my having M.S. THank you

Dear Pat:
Methods of diagnosis used in the 1920's were very different from the methods used today. Although your maternal grandmother may well have had encephalitis, this is far from certain. She potentially could have any of various other disorders that can mimic encephalitis, such as tuberculous or other meningitis, venous thrombosis, brain abscess, a metabolic disorder, or even multiple sclerosis.
This has no bearing on your having MS, if your diagnosis of MS is firmly established.
I hope this answers your question.
