: In June of '96 I was thrown off a horse and landed on the top of my head.
I've seen doctors, had ct scans x rays etc.  I had an eeg and a sharp wave showed
up so I am going to be having a sleep eeg.  I still have headaches daily,
and a neurologist told me I have post concussion syndrome.  An annoying problem
that persists is:  I have a VERY hard time completing tasks, I tend to get 6
things started at once , and never quite finish them.  I would LIKE to be able
to focus , even for a short
while!  I've give up reading novels, can't sit still that long and it's too
hard to remember the story, I have a hard time sitting through a movie etc.
Sometime it's very frustrating. After a year , it's one thing I am having a
hard time working around.  I go through phases of barely being able to get
out of bed, to not being able to sit still.  ANY ideas for me?

= Vicky, Postconcussion syndrome or posttraumatic nervous instability is characterized by the following: headache (most common), dizziness/vertigo, intolerance of physical/emotional excitement, tenseness, reswtlessness, inabolity to concentrate, feelings of nervousness, fatigue worry and apprehension. Usually, memory and other intellectual functions show little or no impairement on formal testing. Unfortuanately, these symptons may persist for months or even years before lessening. In addition, this syndrome tends to resist all treatment modalitis. Therefore your description of symptons seems to substantiate the diagnosis of postconcussion syndrome by your neurologist and only the tincture of time will improve it. For you and your family I would recommend contacting the "Brain Injury Association, Inc" which can provide you with education, information local resources and even support groups about your disorder. They can be contacted at (800)444-6443 or (202)296-6443, Contact person:I and R Coordinator. "this information is provided for general medical education purposes only.
