I believe I have been experiencing migraines...throbbing headaches,with
nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, etc. Sleeping seems to be the only
thing that helps and even that is hard to do because even lying down
seems to hurt my head. I recently noticed a knot/lump near my right temple.I
have not bumped my head recently to have gotten this knot...it also seems
to be a little soft in nature. Of course, with the knot and the headaches...
I can't help but fear there is some correlation between the two. Other
than the dreaded brain tumor, can you think of other reasons for this
unexplained bump?  Do these ever occur when people have migraines? By the
way, my headaches used to occur maybe 2 times a year...now it seems I
have one at least every week!!!! I would appreciate any info! Thanks!!!

Hello, KC,
The way your symptoms present does sound like migraine.  I am not aware of any correlation between any "bump" as you described and the symptoms of migraine.  Most of brain tumors are inside the skull, with a few exceptions where skin or/and subcutaneous lesions are a part of the presentation but those are usually genetic.  As far as the headaches of brain tumor, they usually present in a much different way than migraine.  They generally tend to be deep-seated and nonthrobbing.  They may be related to symptoms of high intracranial hypertension such as forceful vomiting.
Since your headaches have become much more frequent, you should see a headache specialist for a full evaluation.  Our Headache Center at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation is staffed with nationally well recognized physicians and is equipped with the most advanced technology.  We welcome patients with or without a physician's referral.  We will thoroghly investigate the cause of your headaches and work with you until we find a treatment program that helps.  Please call toll free at (800) 223-2273 or (216) 444-2200 and ask for ext. 5665 for an appointment.  Hope to see you soon.
