: A little background: 55 year old female, peri-menopausal, normally low to
normal blood pressure,un-eventual health history, in general excellent
health, 5'2", 120 pounds, mother of a 27 year old female with down
syndrome, mother died at 77 (complications from severe Parkingson's and
type II diabetes), father 83 and healthy.
Problem: for the last couple of months, sporadic light dizziness together
with a sensation that my right leg simply will not support my weight.
At that point.I must find something to lien on, or I will fall. The leg
feels like a piece of lead and will not respond to my command.
This could happen when I first wake up or in the middle of the day, it is
always the right leg. Other than vitamins, Ginko, CoQ-10 and Heavy Duty
vitamins, the only thing I take on a daily basis are a low dosage of
Zolof for depression and Melatonin to help me sleep.
I am very concern about the Posibility of Parkingson's and would like your
opinion before I go to my phisician. Please Help !

Dear Ms. Ruiz:
The problem that you describe seems to be of serious nature. Unfortunately you do not provide enough detail in your history that would allow me to better define what the extent of the problem is. However, from a general standpoint, what you are having may be described as TIA's (transient ischemic attacks), which are symptoms that may occur prior to a major stroke.
I recommend that you see a neurologist for a full work-up as soon as possible.
Good Luck !
