After having brain surgery for epilepsy, in which a total of 5 and one half inches were removed, I began to experience random jerking/twitching from all over my body. I did this while I was awake and asleep. The neurologist at CCF informed me and my parents that they are myoclonic jerks and put me on medication ( I don't remember which one. At the time I had been on so many different kinds)and after a few days they went away. What exactly was happening? I had no other problems after my surgery. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Transient myoclonic jerks have been described as a rare complication of
some anaesthetic agents which are used in surgery including epilepsy
surgery.
These last only a few days are rapidly responsive to therapy and do not recurr.
It is not possible to say if this is the definite source of the jerks in your case
but the phenomenon has been described and sounds like a reasonable explanation.
I am glad your surgery was otherwise uneventful and hope you have achieved good
seizure control.
