: What is the long term effect of steriod injections into the face for pain?
Hi Nancy!!
Please, check into what steroid will be used...I don`t know about all but I do know alot about corticosteriods...There is one that I had injected into my spine...it is called DEPO-MEDROL and it is a very power drug...it is also called Methylpredisolone Acetate...This steroid should only be used for the conditions listed under indications...This drug(steroid) is misused all over the world by doctors...If you decided to have these injections, I would strongly suggest that you make sure that your doctor sets down with you and goes over not only the benefits or alternatives...but "RISKS", this way you are informed before you take this step...I have had this steroid injected into my spine (epidurals)and I am now a "PARAPLEGIC" I have done extensive research on this procedure and the drug that is usually used...this is happening all over the world...and alot more than some people would care to admit...I was told that, by one of the employees of PHARMACIA&UPJOHNS`INC...They are the manufactures of this drug...and they say not to do it and so does the FDA and a book that is in doctors offices and in hospital nurses stations...It is called a PDR(physicians desk reference)and it is suppose to be used for drug interactions...Find out from your physician, the drug he intends to use and then you would be able to go to your local library and look it up or even ask the reference librarian to assist you...Good luck in whatever decision you make...Sincerely, Alva
