Foot pain began mostly the same symtoms as before the surgery with pain,
numbnessNumbness and tingling, etc. Doctor gave me accomodators. This helped for a while. Now foot is sensitive along surgical scar. Touching this area produces tingling in middle/back of arch on bottom of foot. Anytime I don't wear the accomodators the ankle swells and there is pain. I want to know if this is common, could this be the best my ankle will get, and could the condition worsen with more activity. Thanks.
Dear Cindy:
It is rather strange that your symptoms have recurred after a decompressive
procedure. What is also odd is the description of swelling that you give.
Since I do not have the luxury of examining you, I recommend you see your physician
again and discuss with him/her whether reflex sympathetic dystrophy is an
option. Your symptoms are not very typical but in the setting of previous
trauma to the foot this might be a problem, and might be a superimposed factor
upon the TTS. The treatment for RSD is different and if diagnosed correctly
can provide you with some answers and alternative treatments. I hope this
helps!
Good Luck!
