Reversal of Percutaneous Rhizolysis

Reversal of Percutaneous Rhizolysis

Twenty five years ago I had  Percutaneous  Rhizolysis surgery to treat Trigeminal Neuralgia. The surgery was unsucessful becasue the wrong branch of the trigeminal nerve was severed. Since the surgery I have had numbness and some pain from the corner of my mouth reaching to the top of my eye. I also have difficulty with a drool in the corner of my mouth. The post surgery problems are now worse than the Trigeminal Neuralgia. At the time, I was told the procedure as not reversable but I am now wondering is that still true? Is there any was to repair the nerve damage to the severed nerve?

Hi Dear
Percutaneous rhizolysis offers a rapid, safe, reliable, and relatively inexpensive surgical approach to treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. As surgical techniques narrowly offer the highest chance of maximising patient quality of life, all patients with trigeminal neuralgia should consider surgery. Treatment decisions must take place after careful consideration of the values patients place on benefits and risks of treatment. Intact preoperative facial sensation was the most important prognostic factor for an initially successful operative result.
One can hope for some nerve recovery over a period of time in few months.
