Right leg: Twitches, pain, numbness

I went to two orthopaedic doctors and no one could find anything.
I regularly do endurance sports on the recumbent bike. Before I used to use the elliptical every day, but now just once a week - which is why I bough the recumbent.
The problem started two years ago, gets better, gets worse, Now it's there again.
I have a strange (not really a pain) sensation in my right leg: medial thigh and knee just below the kneecap. Also lateral thigh sometimes. The hamstrings are a bit harder than on the left side. I feel like I am standing on a wooden leg.
I feel my legs though (sensibility is there). My doc felt my pulses too. He said he was no expert but checked also with the US for bloodflow in the femoral veins. It was free.
When I press the medial thigh hard, it takes about a second for the muscle to get back to it's normal status and it hurts. This phenomenon I have observed on the left leg as well, but the left leg otherwise shows no other complaints... except once: it was starting to show the same initial symptoms as the other had started, but due to a good massage (?) with warm oil, it disappeared. I don't want to press too hard, because it seems like my muscles are so sensitive, which is why I don't want to try any pressing of the left thigh. I feel as if I had caused a muscle tear on my right thigh through pressing long ago - but that's impossible, with my bear hand? I am a doc myself (but not a specialist) and my orthopaedic doctor pressed my thigh muscle (medial) yesterday and I still feel the pain there !

When I slightly knock on a table, my right leg shows hyperreflexia.

Please I am asking for your help and I am ready to give you all information, at any time.

My doc said I was ok, that I could try seeing a vein-specialist, but I doubt that it has anything to do with the veins, as there are no other signs.

I am female, 28 yrs old.

In my opinion, it does NOT sound like a vascular issue is the primary problem or problem at all.  The US would have detected any blood clots.  Sounds like a Neuro issue, and I would recommend a consult with a Neurologist.

You are a physician yourself?  Maybe you can ask a collegue his/her opinion too.

Shouldn't US be able to detect clots ? My doctor let me watch when he was doing the US on the vessel loge and there was no obstacle towards the blood flow.

But if it's a pinched nerve how could the symptoms  suddenly appear in the other leg ?
I am about to make an appointment with the vein-specialist (angiologist), but I hope I am investing my time usefully as I am very busy myself and have to take leave for this occasion...

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

From the symptoms you describe, it sounds that it could be a circulatory disturbance (due to compression of blood vessels) or a nerve pinched.  This may most likely occurs due to any clots in blood vessels, excessive alcohol use or diabetes. I would suggest evaluating all the possibilities with the help of a doctor first. Further referral to a neurologist will surely help you in getting a more precise opinion here. Hope this information proves help you.

If you going to try to see another specialist, I would recommend a Neurologist, sounds like nothing vascular.  You don't sound ok to me.

Secondly, I am in these forums pretty often and I am just in awe at the number of young people I see in here.  I am forty, so you would expect to start having problems at my age, but 28?  I feel for you.

Keep us posted.
