Right side numbness/burning/tingling pain??

Hi,

'm 49, female & I wonder if anyone can give any advice on the following, as I have a GP appointment soon & over several years of dealing with this have had no joy with what I feel is a correct diagnosis or medical help, & have pretty much given up trying & just got on with it, However recently this has got much worse,& I am really struggling to cope with it, I want/need to work again, but cannot do much for long with my right arm without setting off a very bad flare up...........hence why I am going back to my Doctor & trying again.

Problems "feels" as if it stems from my neck, & is cold numbness, burning pain & tingling, currently all down my right arm, though at the moment worse on lower 3 fingers & underside of arm to my elbow , jumping to about 3/4 inches above elbow then up & round to my right shoulder, a bit on my shoulder blade, & up right side of my neck, & up the side of my face with tingling & numbness on my cheek & eye socket, eye feels weird sort of numb darkness to my vision on that side, but if I cover my eyes, there is little difference, though my vision generally hasn't been good for years........the more I type, the more intense the pain/numbness gets, & it spreads, I now also have nubness & heat in my ear.......& I know from experience it will soon also spread to my head & severe headaches & weird visuals.....sort of semi white out, & migraine like zig zag lines & fizzy vision....... & my hand/arm become harder to control the longer I go on, & arm feels tense & cramped, currently slowed right down with typing & feeling light headed with the pain, & now all of my arm is equal in pain numbness & finding it hard to concentrate & focus, & had to stop & continue later due to now quite severe sick headache, right eye feels numb & "tunnel vision"...........I now also am starting to get weird "boat rocking" sensations, something I often have, & can feel as if ground suddenly falls out from under me, I have over the years got used to this & cope, but do notice a definite link to this symptom & using my arm/neck/hand

this weird burning cold numbness also jumps down my right leg, a little at back side above back of knee/outer low thigh & then the whole of my out side of my calf, I noticed on walking, that my left outer foot wants to curl under a little & I am having to consciously make it walk normally.

I also have problems with trigeminal pain, thought (by Drs) to be down to lymph gland sweling & pressing on nerve,  as it doesn't fit with trigeminal nurealgia..............recently realised that antibiotics for ongoing sinus infection hadn't workd as eventual swab showed infection to be severe & of different type...just finished these, so fingers crossed

I do have Diagnosis of Fibromyalgia, M.E. (cfs) but I have never felt this fit with this always right sided & predomantly arm/neck/hand/face/head nerve problem really fits this...................., I also have diagnosis of Chronic Sinus Disease, (3 lots of surgery & now said to be medically okay, but still have ongoing right side sinus problems) persistant Chronic headache & migraine & high BP,& mortons nuroma in both feet,  take no BP meds, or migraine & mostly only basic pain killers as I am intolerant to a lot of drugs, & tend to  have severe reactions....last new Migraine drug put me in hospital, I also have diazepam for muscle spasms & that can help a little with this pain, as can oramorph, but usually not worth the side effects...............I also have bowel & bladder problems & currently under investigation at incontenance clinic, but linked to low back pain & diagnosed rectocele

Since the beginning (about 8 years now) I have persisant electric shock type sensations in my hands, again learned to live with & work around as triggered by certain movements...such as rolling dough into a ball, flicking a light switch...I now automatically use my hands in a way to avoid triggering this...but recently got worse too, & triggered more easily, sort of like nerve "snapping" in my hands, some times from just flexing them.

I did have MRI about 6 years ago, but I was told "no significant abnormality" also had carpel tunnel MRI a few years ealier, this came back clear, no surprise as again it just didn't fit the symptoms, but GP wanted to rule it out....I do have a lot of other symptoms, but probably fits with given diagnosis.........at the time I first took ill I did have a lot of falls, & a bizzarre  accident which involved my being blown off my feet with my Daughter in strong winds, whilst pushing my then baby in her buggy & having to fight to wrestle myself & buggy back to earth, this hurt my neck & arm, I also years ealier had a work accident involving a rail collpsing onto my neck, hospital diagnosed "bruised nerve' in my right side neck, symptoms to that were similar, though much milder than experienced now...........I also had a serous accident where I shattered my right elbow at 13 yrs. threatended with Op to replace elbow joint, thankfully not needed after I ignored advice to keep arm still, whilst waiting on surgery & muscle pushed bone back into place & it healed well & given me little problems since.........Doctor at time said it was a bit of a miracle

I hope this makes sense, now i n a lot of pain head etc from typinf

thank you in advance for any advice

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, Thank you for your question. From the symptoms you describe, it sounds that it could be a circulatory disturbance (due to compression of blood vessels) or a nerve pinched.  This may most likely occurs due to any clots in blood vessels, excessive alcohol use or diabetes, due to injury to a nerve, pressure on spinal or peripheral nerves (neuropathy), vitamin deficiency etc. I would suggest evaluating all the possibilities with the help of a doctor first. Further referral to a neurologist will surely help you in getting a more precise opinion here. Hope this information proves help you.

I just wanted to say Thanks again.........., my GP has at long last taken this seriously as not likely been FM/ME related & is now finally arranging an appointment for me with a Nurosurgeon/pain clinic, depending on which 1 can see me quickest (NHS) both apparently can arrange further investigations, so hopefully i can get some answers & better still some help...thank you!!

Thank you very much for responding, yes it is very helpful, in thatyour opinion confirms my suspiscion that its not likely to FM/ME related, I haven't drank alcoholol in many years, just can't tolerate it any more, recent Diabetes tests clear & due a lot in my family I live pretty much on a GI diet anyway, with hope of avoiding it, I eat an extrememly healthy diet, take  & use epsom salts for magnesium etc, as I find it helps control my FM etc,

I did have to get a 2nd opinion to push my GP to do recent B12 tests, but they were also okay, well withing range apparently, though I hear the tests might not be that reliable???.......& as I more recently pernicious aneamia is rife amongst paternal family, it was something I had half hoped might be the answer, & I could finally get help, but if tests are reliable as my GP insists, then that rules that out too, it can get embarrassing keep pushing my GP for help, & things come back clear, & everything is blamed on FM, but it just doesn't fit what I read, or others I know with the conditions, so your opinion makes me feel it might be still worth the embarrassment & to keep plugging on, to find out the route cause, & you have given me a lot to go on, especially as I have had accidents to potentially cause injury, excuse my waffle, not clear headed, but thank you again
