Thanks. I'll try to get seen by ENT. Problem is I'm in the VA medical system since I'm a disabled veteran. My prime care doc usually refuses to give me referrals to any specialist (the only way to see one).
The VA medical system is horrible and very scary.
Hi,
How are you? When individuals experience problems with their ears, specifically their inner ears, they often have dizziness and ear ringing. The reason for the dizziness is the inner ear houses a balance organ called the vestibular labyrinth.
In many cases these problems are the result of an inner ear infection or some other treatable condition. Once the infection is treated and healed, the dizziness and ear ringing should gradually disappear.
Another reason for dizziness and ear ringing may be Meniere's disease. This is a condition characterized by an excessive build-up of fluid in the inner ear. Cause is not known, but mostly related to head injury, ear infection and syphilis.
Rare but dizziness and tinnitus can be caused due to acoustic neuroma. Tests like caloric stimulation, evoked potential studies, CT scan brain, hearing tests and electronystagmography can help in making diagnosis. If these symptoms persist, you should definitely see a ENT specialist.
Best.
