Rolling valls of lights in peripheral vision

I have been getting these balls of lights that sort of roll around my peripheral vision. They started about 4 months ago, I have been to a eye doctor who has ruled out any retinal damage and also had an MRI and a visual evoked response test and they were both ok. I have been getting them everyday on and off during the day and they are driving me mad, The neurologist has tried me on beta blockers in case it is chronic migraine but they have made no difference at all. I an also very light sensitive now, has anyone elses symtoms cleared up?
