My brother who is suffering with Spinal Muscular Atrophy is residing in remote place of andhra pradesh and we are unable to contact the doctor frequently. At present we are using the medicine GABA NEXT. Please advise me for some medicine which gives temporary relief from pains.

Thank you for your question. Spinal Muscular atrophy occurs by the reason of degeneration of motor neurons that results into muscular weakness and atrophy. Therefore, main modality of treatment depends upon prevention and management of the effect of chronic motor unit loss. Common options could be ventilators, power wheelchairs, and modified access to computers to perform daily activities. In addition, your treating doctor may suggest certain medications to prevent further symptoms and degeneration. Hope this helps.
