THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSE,CCF NEUROLOGY MD-AY SEPT. 5, 1998 @ 19:55:07.
I AM STILL AWAITING RESPONSE FROM THE NEUROLOGIST REGARDING NEXT STEP. I
DID TODAY RECEIVE A COPY OF MY LAST CHART NOTE FROM THE ORTHO SURGEON AFTER
HE REVIEWED THE REPEAT MRI WITH CONTRAST OF THE LYTIC SPONDYLOLISTHESIS.
THIS WAS DONE TO RULE OUT A FREE FRAGMENT THAT HE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT IN
MAY. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF FREE FRAGMENT; IT HAS EITHER REABSORBED OR WAS
SOME FAT THAT WASS MISINTERPRETED AS DISC BECAUSE OF IT'S ODD COLOR. THERE
IS DEFINITELY FAT OR GRANULATION THERE, BUT IT'S NOT CAUSING ANY NEURAL COMPRESSION
THAT'S POSTERIOR TO THE L5 VERTEBRAL BODY ON THE RIGHT. DR. BELIEVES
MY SYMPTOMS EMANATE FROM A LYTIC SPONDYLOLISTHESIS. REPORT READS THERE
IS SIGNIFICANT PARS DEFECTS. I HAVE CLASSIC SYMPTOMS FOR IT, BUT THEY
ARE NOT PROFOUND ENOUGH TO DO ANYTHING MORE SURGICALLY ABOUT IT.
CAN YOU PLEASE PUT INTO "LAYMEN'S TERMS" WHAT IS PARS DEFECTS?
ALSO, MY UNDERSTANDING OF "LYTIC SPONDY" IS THAT THERE IS A FRACTURE IN
THE L5-S1 LOCATION. AM I CORRECT HERE? IF NOT, PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME!
THANK YOU, AGAIN, FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE. THIS FORUM CERTAINLY PROVIDES A
SENSE OF REASSURANCE.
