Scoliosis an effect of NMD?

Scoliosis an effect of NMD?

I posted here before.  I have had twitching and cramping for about 6 months now.  So far my Neurologist has said I probably have Benign Fasciculations.

An MRI of my lower spine was just recently done (lumbrosacral?), and it came back that I have a curvature to the spine and some degeration due to arthritis.

My doc also said he noticed I had Scoliosis on quick inspection of the back.

I'm 30 years old, and to my knowledge, I've never noticed it before and no doctor ever noticed it before.

I'm a bit concerned when I did a bit of research that it can be "neuromuscular" related.

Is this another Neurological deficit I should be concerned about?

Thank you!
Take care

Scoliosis that develops during childhood or later on usually has no neurological abnormalities associated with it.  These cases typically have no known cause and a few are associated with a syrinx (abnormal dilation of the fluid filled cavity within the spinal cord) or Chiari malformation which is when the bottom part of the brain extends downwards just a little bit.  It is not something that I would consider worrisome and is not related to your other symptoms.

On the other hand, patients who are born with scoliosis do have neurological abnormalities such as mental retardation (development delay) and dwarfism, which does not appear to be your case. Good luck.
