Seizure occurence after 16 years being Seizure Free off meds

First off a bit about myself.

I am a 29 year old male with OCD/Anxiety Disorder. I am on Paxil CR for it. I had seizures (Grand Mal's) when I was younger for about 5 years and then as I said I was seizure free, taken off the meds and was fine for 16 years. What happened was last August I had a grandmal seizure in the Chiropractors office. For the past two weeks before it, I was really really stressed out. I was working crazy hours  like four different jobs, really anxious etc. Well I had gotten the adjustment and was on what they call a "Tinge Machine". Basically it stimulates your muscles with a low electrical current. Well about a minute in I was told I seized up in a grand-mal seizure. So they took me to the ER and the doctor in there said that all the stress was building up and the Tinge Machine pushed me over the edge.

So I go to a neurologist who was my fathers doctor. My father was in a bad car accident about 14 years ago and suffered brain damage and scarring on his brain. Due to the scarring he was told by one doctor the intial doctor ( We'll call her Mrs. Y) he had petite seizures due to the scarring. Never had a problem in his 55 years before that. This doctor (We'll call him Mr X) tells him and me that I inherited my seizures from him. Mr. X tells me that my anxiety took the form of a seizure, the machine had nothing to do with it, it was a coincedence and puts me on 100mgs of Lamotrigne TEV twice a day. Of course I worked my way up to it. Knock on wood I haven't had any problems since. Everything's fairly normal, I am driving again and have a cocktail about once or twice a week with no problems.

My Mother, Father, and myself all think that it was the stress and the machine. What are your thooughts?

When you had a seizure history as a doctor i would always advice you to be careful. The first thing is lead a stress free life and have a healthy balanced diet.
You history clearly suggests that your Grandmal seizures were due to stress and you were cured of the initial Paediatric seizures. Continue medication and do not smoke and do not drink alcohol. Remember Seizures as such can be inherited and no doctor can be sure that the seizure what your dad had was only due to the scarring and accident. So take care and lead a stress free life.
