Seizure????

My grandson just turned 1 back in Dec.  His parents and both sets of grandparents have noticed that several times a day he will just stop what he is doing and his eyes will roll up.  This will not last for more than maybe 5-10 seconds.  No other symptoms.  He has been doing this since he was about 10 months old.  Could this be a seizure and should we take him to his doctor?

Thank you so much for the reply.  We are in the process now of getting an appointment with the Childrens Hospital.

There were no birth complications.  He has been sick a lot.  Just had tubes put in both ears 3 months ago.

Hello.

You have done a good job by bringing this to the forum. There is a possibility of a partial seizure. But you should also consider something called as eye tics. These are not so uncommon in infants.

You may need to get an EEG done. A video EEG is preferred. It has the advantage of letting us see the brain waves during such an episode or up rolling of eyes.

Did he have any significant birth complications?

Regards
