Seizures after brain tumor

Just out of curiousity how long does an astrocytoma tumor take to develop mine was about the size of a golf ball?  It was grade II, and the resection was done in late August of 2009.  It was removed from the left frontal lobe and was slightly involved in the language center near my right arm controls or so I was told.  I had an EEG done recently and was told there were "sharp waves on the left side" and I am unsure of what that means.  The surgery went well, no radiation or chemo after, and they say they got 99.9% of it.  I have had several seizures since then and one during the surgery, I think 4-5 all together.  I am an unemployed veteran trying to go to school pay bills etc, so these added medical costs of seizure meds, eegs, neuro appointments, are not helping when it comes to trying to provide for my two month old, and my two year old sons.  I just need some answers as to why this is happening, and perhaps why I am still having troubles.  There are times at night when I am about to fall asleep and I think I feel seizures, and it scares the crap outta me because I dont like the grand mal's they weren't that enjoyable...

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

Generally, grade-2 astrocytoma is slow growing and represents with most common symptoms of seizures. Although resection along with radiation & chemotherapy of tumor may provide relief in symptoms (seizures) in one or to years, but due to invasive nature of the tumor it may recur as well. Therefore, your treating doctor will be in best position to let you know the precise outcome after the surgery. Hope this helps.
