Thank you Medhelp for the much needed answer to my question. I had wanted another medical opinion and now I feel confident that my husband is on the right track for getting help with his nonepileptic seizures and also his MS.

You are correct in that areas of inflammation in the brain due to MS can cause seizures if they are pushing up against gray matter.  These would show up on an EEG as epileptic seizures and would certainly require treatment of both the underlying MS and also the seizures.  Non epileptic seizures on the other hand are NOT caused by abnormal brain activity.  Rather they are psychological or subconscious (as you were told) in origin.  Therefore, medical treatment for epileptic seizures is not necessary. Medications for true epileptic seizures act by decreasing the amount of irritability of the brain.  In nonepileptic seizures, there is NO irritability of the brain and in your husband's case if these are nonepilepic, then they have nothing to do with the inflammation from MS.  It may represent a a manifestation of psychological/subconscious reactions to the diagnosis of MS or other issues.  But that should be treated with counseling and perhaps psychiatric medications, not epilepsy meds. Good luck.
